The Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the most recognizable and successful NFT projects in the world, has launched its community council. Officially announced on October 5, 2022, this council is made up of 7 of the community’s most proactive and longstanding members.
These members are John Ong, the counter of bored Room Ventures, Sera, an artist who has worked on the Bored Salon project, Laura Rod, the founder of the Miami Ape, 0xEthan, the founder of Metaverse News, 0xWave, one of the earliest adopters of the BAYC, Negi, a Hong Kong photographer living in Japan, and Peter Fang, a community member who has organized in-person meetups for BAYC.
As the announcement explains, the purpose of this council is to work with Yuga Labs, BAYC’s parent company, and the BAYC/MAYC collective “to uplift community-driven initiatives such as commercial projects, meetups, charitable giving, and other community-led ideas.”
The council will also act as an avenue for the BAYC’s leadership to receive feedback and advice straight from its community. This is especially timely given that the BAYC is in a period of expansion and has been used in more commercial ventures. The announcement also emphasised that with this expansion, BAYC does not want to lose sight of its core community.
