During December, Mercado Pago, the digital wallet service offered by Mercado Libre, connected with the Paxos blockchain technology. This made it possible for customers in Brazil to buy and sell Bitcoin, ETH, and Paxos Dollar (USDP).
In an interview with El Paso, the director of the fintech sector of Mercado Libre, Osvaldo Gimenez, stated: “We are going to improve the opportunity to buy, trade, and hold cryptocurrencies in your account.” He went on to say that it was functional with bitcoin, ethereum, and a dollar-based stablecoin.
Mercado Libre did not reveal which countries will be next to receive the merchandise or when they will receive it.
According to the press, the company’s cryptocurrency would have exceeded one million clients in Brazil in February, according to the press. Nubank, which is the largest digital bank in Brazil in terms of market value, recently announced that its cryptocurrency trading platform had reached one million customers just one month after its introduction in June.
