You Can Now Buy Your Own Street In XR Thanks To Spheroid Universe

Ever wonder how you can claim a digital copy of your own property? Fret not. Now you can even buy your own street in XR thanks to Spheroid Universe.

Spheroid Universe utilizes augmented reality (AR) technology to create digital surfaces of planet Earth. Then these surfaces are split up into several plots, called Spaces, which are ERC-721 tokens with precise geographic coordinates. Buy the Space that you want, and the digital copy of the property (or street) on that plot is yours.

Before we proceed, just keep in mind that AR is augmented reality, VR is virtual reality, and XR is a combination of both AR and VR.

Now, remember we said that each Space comes with its own geographic coordinates? This is especially true as shown in a snapshot of Spheroid’s marketplace below. For instance, the selected Space coincides with a tourist destination which is The Vessel at Manhattan. From the map, we can see a “P” marking on that Space, which means someone has purchased the digital plot and it is not for sale right now.

However, take note that the owner is only owning a digital copy of The Vessel and its surroundings, not the actual property of The Vessel itself. If you wish to buy a Space, look for a vacant plot at your favorite spot, and purchase it using $SPH, the native cryptocurrency of Spheroid Universe.

So what can we do with these digital plots? Plenty. According to Spheroid Universe, businesses can advertise their products or services in XR on Spaces. In fact, games and artworks can be showcased on Spaces in XR as well. Furthermore, Space owners can rent out their plots in exchange for rental income. In the future, the launch of the Spheroid Universe app will enable us to observe these objects through smartphones, glasses, and AR helmets.

Even though XR technology is gaining traction, not many metaverse projects take advantage of it. For example, The Sandbox is still using 3D rendering while Decentraland is at most VR-compatible for now. The only issue with Spheroid Universe right now is the lack of collaboration with big brands. If they fix that, we should see Spheroid Universe making big hits soon.
