Iconic Swedish artist Hilma af Klint is due to make her debut in the Metaverse through an upcoming NFT collection on the Pharell Williams-backed Goda NFT platform. The paintings to be sold as NFTs are all 193 canvases painted by Klint for her Paintings for the Temple (1906-15) project.
These NFTs are due to go live on Goda on November 14, 2022. Besides the NFTs which will be available for purchase by the public, there will also be a second edition that will be kept with Bokförlaget Stolpe, the publishers of Klint’s catalogue.
It is worth noting that Klint’s works have seen immense popularity over the last few years. For example, the 2018 exhibition of her work at the Guggenheim Museum in New York broke attendance records and a recent biopic of her hit cinemas. Given the way modern audiences are embracing Klint’s works and life, the Goda team believes that an NFT debut is timely.
“It took us a century to fully understand. Now that we do, we need to rewrite art history! Beautiful and meaningful art truly transcends time, and Hilma af Klint’s work is a perfect example of that. We’re honoured to show her work on this platform and to truly celebrate a remarkable woman,” said Pharrell Williams.
